Napa Valley Vintners Auction a huge success thanks in no small part to The Cakebread Family!

The proceeds are going to 100% not for profit
causes, focused on the health, and youth development and affordable housing projects in Napa County. Rather than a single
charity, this is actually a collection of organizations whose mission is to provide prenatal, dental, and hospice care, housing,
guidance to youth, and a myriad of well thought out and worthy works aimed at benefiting the underprivileged in Napa County.
This will give back handsomely to the unique community the wineries enjoy daily.
Naturally the Cakebread family is proud to
participate, but the work and dedication required is almost impossible to quantify, and the local people of Napa County owe
Jack, Delores, Dennis, Sara, Bruce, and Karen Cakebread, as well as all of the staff at Napa Valley Vintners a hearty “Salute”
and a raise of the glass toward their efforts. The 2007 chairpersons have already been selected, and they are Joseph Phelps,
founder, and Bill Phelps, Chairman, Tom Shelton, President and CEO, and Craig Williams, the director of winemaking, the stalwarts
of the famous Joseph Phelps Vineyard. They have recently been awarded the coveted “Wine of the Year” by The Wine
Spectator for the 2002 vintage of their icon wine, Insignia.
Terry Hall, the Communications Director of
the Napa Valley Vintners, announced an astounding $8.4 million was raised by auction, $3.4 million over what was expected.
One of the great success stories of the event was the e-auction, which included bidders from as far as Hong Kong, and one
winner from Chiba, Japan. Almost anyone from around the globe could register for an “e-paddle” for bidding purposes,
and pre-bidding started on the 19th of May, until today, the official end of the entire event. This replaced the
old "silent Auction" which raised about $25,000.00 in the past. The e-auction included 61 lots listed below, and raised $311,000.00,
up from $179,000.00 last year.

A one-of-a-kind 5L of 2003 Amuse Bouche produced by Heidi P. Barrett and John Schwartz. The bottle is signed
by Heidi Barrett, engraved with exclusive artwork produced by Guy Buffet and presented in an oak box. Accompanying this large
bottle is a six bottle case of the highly allocated 2003 Amuse Bouche, a Pomerol-style blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc
from the St. Helena appellation.

Beaulieu Vineyard
Beaulieu Vineyard wines today are a fitting testament to their distinguished heritage. The legendary BV Georges de Latour
Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon remains one of the finest expressions of Napa Valley winemaking.
The roots of BV
were firmly planted in Napa Valley by Frenchman Georges de Latour, a native of Bordeaux, in 1900. Within a few years he purchased
128 acres of prime vineyard land adjacent to his home in Rutherford, then later bought more land near Oakville. Today these
vineyards, which are still called BV #1 and BV #2, are at the heart of Beaulieu's production of Private Reserve and Rutherford
Cabernets.
The individual lots were hand-picked. Each lot underwent malolactic fermentation and aging in a mixture
of French and American oak. Deep black cherry, black olive and complex, mineral-licorice aromas of Clone 6. One of the most
powerful Georges de Latour Cabernets in recent years, the wine has dark berry flavors framed by powerful, rich tannins. Well
balanced and full-bodied, the finish features the dense minerality and structure typical of Clones 6 and 4.

Our Gott Vines single-vineyard Syrah is from Joel’s family vineyard in St. Helena, a unique area at the base of
Howell Mountain called Diego Valley. This Syrah has a great expression of its terroir. It is harvested at the optimal ripeness,
fermented on the skins and then macerated to achieve the best extraction of flavor, tannin, and color. Our Gott Vines Syrah
has aromas of roasted plum, raspberry and mocha. Spicy flavors, sweet tannin texture with a rich middle palate. The finish

1992 through 2004 ZD Reserve Cabernet; along with one bottle each of all the individual vintage bottlings of ZD Reserve Cabernet.
These wines are more precious than ever as the primary portion of ZD's wine library was lost to fire last October.
